Carab’s M.D. Dirk van Aarde,  received a Masters Degree (Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch,  majoring in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics.  Dirk registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa in 1996.

Dirk spent some years at Kendal Power Station and ALSTOM, John Thompson Boilers, after with he pioneered TEKNIVA, an  design house which aims to serve industry with innovative engineering solutions.

In 2008 Dirk acquired a majority share in Carab Technologies (Pty) Ltd, currently a significant role player in South Africa on Power Boiler Plant Care as well as custom designed Information Technology Systems.
