Welcome to our company website. Here is a glimpse of who we are, what we do, and how it all began… OUR COMPANY: In support of the Eskom vision to reduce tube leaks a system engineer (Fanie Scheepers) establishes a central database capable of storing all boiler related information centrally (components, elements, outages, decisions, inspection results and repairs). History of all engineering decisions, inspection and failure data is stored for the life of each component. The visual interfaces of the system allow the users to quickly determine the condition of components and to take appropriate actions. This database became the foundation of the Carab system and engineering processes was added to provide the system engineer with a tool to help him to plan, manage and optimize boiler plant care. In 2008 Dirk van Aarde acquired the majority share in Carab and has directed the rollout of the Carab system and philosophies at numerous Eskom power stations. Fanie Scheepers is still a share holder and actively assisting the development and Plantcare team. Dirk van Aarde, a registered, professional engineer, obtained his Masters Degree (Cum Laude) in 1990 in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. He gained his experience and insightful expertise at Kendal Power Station and ALSTOM, John Thompson Boilers. A couple of months before the turn of the millennium, TEKNIVA was born. A birth that would lead to innovative engineering solutions in South Africa and even internationally. Today, Dirk van Aarde is also the Managing Director of CARAB Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a plant engineering consulting company providing an extensive range of services to meet the specific needs of its clients in the power boiler industry. Together, TEKNIVA and CARAB Technologies, established a professional organization that can effectively address the desperate need for design engineering, project management, plant care and maintenance engineering.
